Skin Rejunenation with Microneedling
Micro Needling An Overview
As we age, the natural production of collagen decreases, leading to more visible lines, wrinkles and sagging skin. While injectable treatment options such as Botox and dermal fillers have become the first line of defense against the signs of aging, micro needling can offer results that are both natural and longer lasting.
In addition to facial rejuvenation, micro needling can be used on the body to effectively treat:
- Acne scars
- Stretch marks
- Chicken pox scars
- Scars on the skin from trauma
Micro Needling What to Expect
Micro needling begins with the application of both a numbing agent and a topical hyaluronic acid (HA) based serum for comfort and a smooth surface.
Your nurse will gently move the hand held device over the area(s) to be treated, during which you may feel a gentle pricking on the skin surface. Most patients report that the process is easy, generally painless and allows them to return to their daily routine right away.
Each micro needling session will last for approximately 30 minutes and we will recommend the appropriate number of sessions to achieve your specific goals. Most patients will need 3-6 sessions in total.
You can expect possible mild redness, swelling and/or tenderness in the treated area for a couple of days as the healing process begins with inflammation. After treatment, we will provide after care instructions and recommend professional skin products to protect the skin, promote healing and help maintain your results.
What Is Automated Micro-Needling?
Automated micro-needling is an innovation in aesthetics for the treatment of the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and the skin’s texture, tone, and color.
What Are the Benefits?
The benefits of micro-needling can include a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, younger-looking skin with fewer signs of aging. Micro-needling may also have a positive effect on the appearance of hyper-pigmentation, hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks and generally creates a fresher appearance or glow to the skin.
What Areas Of The Body Can be Treated?
Micro-Needling can be done on all parts of the body, including the: face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.
How Is The Procedure Done?
A sterile cartridge containing 12 points is attached to the micro-needle. A Physician will apply a thin layer of sterile saline to your skin and select the appropriate pen setting based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the pen will be gently pressed against the skin while simultaneously gliding in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.
What Does It Feel Like?
The feeling associated with the Micro-Needling is similar to light sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating tip reduces discomfort while the applied hydrating gel also makes the treatment more tolerable.
Is there any Downtime?
Immediately after the treatment you will notice a bright redness to the skin. The total healing time depends on the setting used and the number of overlapping passes your skincare professional performs. On average, patients are red up to 2 to 4 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. Utilizing the quality skincare products, provided by your skincare provider, can help to speed up the healing process.
When Will I See the Results?
Patients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results can continue to improve up to 6 months.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Some patients only require a single treatment once per year to achieve optimal results. However, it is recommended for most patients to receive a series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals. *results can vary based on individual conditions
